This is Laura Anthony and Susan Richter, two Highland Games athletes from Oklahoma, best friends, and training partners. Their Highland Games careers have proven to be a quick ride to the top of the leaderboard. Laura is a MacLoed by ancestry, while Susan is a MacLeod by choice.
Laura has been competing in Highland Games for 2 years, finishing out her last season ranked #2 in the Masters Women 40-49 class, earning her an invitation to compete in the Masters World Championship in Nuendorf, Switzerland in late August of 2023. Of course, Laura and Susan knew they had to make this trip together. They will be extending their trip to include a visit to Scotland. They, along with a few other masters women athletes from around the USA will be making history by being the first women to ever take the field at the Braemar Gathering in Braemar, Scotland. This is the oldest, and arguably the most prestigious Highland Games in Scotland. The Royal family is always in attendance and awards the victors of the Games.
Laura and Susan have been raising funds to make this happen. They will be the only female athletes from Oklahoma going to compete in these countries.
