San Antonio Celtic Festival and Highland Games
The San Antonio Celtic Festival and Highland Games
were held on April 8th and 9th, 2006 at the Helotes
Festival Grounds. On Friday evening, April 7th, a Tartan Day
Celebration was held at the Alamo with pipe bands, Highland dancers, and
speeches by the Mayor of San Antonio and other dignitaries. The Clan MacLeod
was represented at this event by Larry and Jackie Sears, Muffee Beaton, Sarah
Piepgrass, Jim Johnson, Doug Beaton and Gloria McLeod. Entertainment included
songs by the Drambeauties consisting of Jackie Sears, Muffee Beaton and Sarah
Piepgrass.
The day of the Games dawned bright and clear. The
attendance was very good and there was a steady stream of visitors to the
MacLeod tent. Diane McLeod renewed her membership and Margaret Callahan joined
as a new member. The Drambeauties also entertained at the Festival. It was a
very enjoyable event.
