Clan MacLeod marched proudly up the Avenue of the Americas (6th Ave.) in Manhattan on April 5, 2008. The NYC Tartan Day Parade (www.tartanweek.com) is the largest in the country and the crowds were huge, waving Scottish flags and cheering. Every April, Tartan Day honors Americans of Scottish descent who have played an influential role in the United States. It was a wonderful turn out of about forty enthusiastic MacLeod’s. We marched behind the “Shamrock and Thistle Pipe and Drum Band” from New Jersey dressed in the yellow dress MacLeod of Lewis ( www.shamrockandthistle.com ). The pipe bands musical arrangements brought lots of energy to our group. After the parade a good time was had by all, socializing, eating and drinking at the “Connolly’s Pub and Restaurant” located at the end of the parade route. Thanks to Bob and Kathy MacLeod and Will MacLeod and his wife Ranana Rosoff for all of their work in planning the event and their great hospitality.
