SAN ANTONIO HIGHLAND GAMES
HELOTES FAIR GROUNDS
March 27-28, 2010
The San Antonio Highland Games were
preceded by the National Tartan Day Celebration at the Alamo on Friday
evening, March 26, 2010, sponsored by the Daughters of the Republic of
Texas. The distinguished guests were lead to the front of the Alamo by
the San Antonio Pipes & Drums where the colors were posted by the Alamo
Rangers Honor Guard. The National Anthem was sung followed by the
introduction of distinguished guests, songs by the Dram Beauties,
tributes to the fallen heroes ending with a wreath laying ceremony and a
reading of the Flowers of the Forest.
The Highland Games were held on
Saturday and Sunday , March 27-28, at the Helotes Festival Grounds
northwest of downtown San Antonio. The Clan MacLeod Society was
represented by Douglas Beaton, RVP South Central Region, Larry Sears,
past RVP, and Gloria McLeod, Coordinator. There was a steady stream of
visitors to the tent each day where they were served food and drinks
provided by Doug and wife, Amy. This Game is always well attended as
there is a bounty of entertainment and vendors on hand,
Respectfully submitted,
Gloria McLeod
