NORTH TEXAS IRISH FESTIVAL
March 2-4, 2007
The North Texas Irish Festival was held at Fair Park, Dallas, Texas, that started Friday evening, March 2, with music from some of the stages while the vendors and Scottish Clans set up their tents and prepared for the festivities on Saturday and Sunday. This was a very successful Festival as evidenced by the message we received from the director after the close of the event: Thank you all for coming to our 25th Festival and making it one of the most successful yet. We had over 46,000 people over the two and a bit days. We served up almost 250 kegs of beer, thousands of bowls of Irish Stew, and every one of the vendors had more sales than ever before. Plans are already being made for next year.
The Clan MacLeod Society was well represented by Gerald McLeod, Doug Beaton, Ross McCaskill, and Gloria McLeod. We had many visitors to our location and welcomed two new members, Sean McCabe and Janelle McCabe Luellen. Jean Williams is a current member and dropped by just to visit. Sean McCabe was formerly with the New York City Firefighters, now a member of the Armed Forces and just back from his second tour of duty in Iraq. He is presently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Janelle McCabe Luellen came with her husband, Dennis, and two children, Ian and Catron. Everyone had a grand time and enjoyed the festivities.
